ABOUT

Hi, I’m Scotty Copalman — a designer, illustrator, and creative based in Portland, Oregon.

My work sits at the intersection of art, design, and skateboarding culture — shaped by years of experience in brand and product design, apparel development, illustration, and creative direction. I’ve always been drawn to the power of visuals to tell a story — from cutting and pasting DIY zines and show flyers as a kid to building full product collections and brand identities today.

I’ve been skateboarding for most of my life, riding for companies like Blind, Balance, Zero, and Shake Junt, to name a few. I spent almost a decade working as an in-house sales rep for Baker Boys Distribution. Skateboarding is so much more than an activity for me. It has taught me resilience, experimentation, confidence in myself and my work. It has kept me young and constantly reminds me to play. It has taught me to see and experience the world around me in unique and different ways. The energy, community, and creative grit of skateboarding continue to inspire how I approach design — hands-on, experimental, and deeply connected to culture and community.

I currently work as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, collaborating with brands and individuals who value authenticity, craft, and storytelling.
strive to create work that feels thoughtful, functional, and alive.

Outside of design and skateboarding, I enjoy Painting, drawing, photography, reading, music, creating, and exploring Oregon’s trails (both forest and cement) — all of which fuel my creative process in one way or another.

Thanks for visiting — if you’d like to collaborate, commission work, or just say hi, don’t hesitate to reach out.
